ProtectaPet Coronavirus Statement

Posted by

We’re sending our heartfelt hopes out to all our supporters through this challenging time of the international coronavirus pandemic, that you stay safe and well. Along with concerns for ourselves and our families’ health, we are all being challenged by physical isolation, financial insecurity and different routines. We share your worries while trying to focus on the positives, including the increased time at home with those we love and for many of us, this includes better quality time with our beloved pets. Now, more than ever, pets are the difference between a house and a home.

We’re delighted to be able to continue to serve you and your pets in our mission to protect cats and provide owners with peace of mind.

Online Shop

Our online shop has seen an increase in demand for DIY kits and as staff may need to self isolate in the coming weeks, there maybe delays in despatch. Due to high pressures on all courier networks, some delays may be possible to deliveries also.

Professional Installation Service

Professional installations that meet the criteria of our stringent risk assessments are continuing to take place. For professional installations that cannot be completed at this time, we are providing quotes now and provisionally taking bookings in July.

Product Availability

In some instances, there are product shortages and delays to distribution and manufacture:

1. Extra Long Brackets

Due to a manufacturing delay, we are unable to dispatch Extra Long Brackets, including kits, until week commencing 15th June. If you would like your order sooner, please consider using our Fence Extension Kits as these are suitable for fences or walls that are 3ft or taller.

2. Steel Mesh

Our black coated steel mesh is currently out of stock, so we are substituting the 'chew guard' in our catios and cat enclosures with hot dipped galvanised mesh. This substitute mesh is is a premium product because the manufacturing process increases the longevity of life in use to approximately twenty five years. As far as possible possible, we have tried to absorb the increase in cost of this product.

Cats and Covid 19

During this pandemic, there has been a lot of discussion about whether cats should be allowed to free roam outdoors or be kept exclusively indoors. The British Veterinary Association and Cats Protection have both issued advice that cats be kept indoors, where possible, only if their owners are suffering from symptoms consistent with coronavirus. We advocate a commonsense approach which considers the owners and their cats in the context of their environment: what is suitable for a cat living in a densely populated urban territory maybe different to a farm cat. While each cat is unique, solutions are not as binary as indoor versus outdoor. In this respect, we feel that ProtectaPet offers the optimum solution for cat safety and welfare in a controlled outdoor territory.
