How to Cat Proof a Gate

If you have a pre-existing gate - whether it is made of timber, steel or composite - the best way to cat proof it is to add a brace above the gate.

(A) Most people source 3 x 2" timber for their gate brace. Where it fits in with the aesthetic, our Installation Engineers use black coated steel-tube.

(B) Attach the Cat Fence Brackets to the posts either side of the gate. Once the mesh is on, be sure to staple it to the wooden brace, and trim the excess mesh.

(C) Ensure that there is a maximum gap of 40mm underneath the gate. If there is gravel or soft ground, consider replacing it with a paving slab or hard standing that the cats can't dig.
