The start of a new year is always a good time to look for
places in your life that would benefit from small improvements. Here are our
top 5 new year’s resolutions that we hope will help inspire you.
Dedicate More Time to Exercise
Pets benefit from exercise as much as humans do. This is a
resolution that you can do together with your pet. There are plenty of ways to
increase the amount of exercise your pet has. Add new toys or activity furniture
into the home and garden. Dog owners can benefit from an extra walk per day,
walking more often, start 0 to 5K or decide to find new places to explore
together.
Learn a Life Saving Skill
Pet owners really can save the life of their pet with some
basic first aid knowledge. Spending just a few minutes learning how to save a choking
pet or what to do when a cat is unconscious

Microchipping
Get your pets microchipped or ensure the information on your
pets’ microchip is up to date. Pets can get lost, stolen or injured and a
microchip ensures that they can be reunited with their owners. The microchip
will only work if you remember to update the information every time you move or

Enhance the Environment
Indoor cats are now increasing in the UK, largely due to the
increased number of cars on the roads as well as concerns over safety. One problem
with indoor life is lack of exercise and stimulation. Adding a cat fence or cat
containment system to the home provides cats with access to the outdoors without

Provide a Safe Home
There are many household products, plants and foods that are
toxic to pets.
Go around the home and garden and ensure anything that could make your pet very
ill is locked away or removed from the property entirely. Don’t forget about
the stray cats and neighbourhood animal. You may think the rock salt is safe
stored outside but wondering animals could easily come across it and end up at
the vets. Put everything out of reach for all the animals in the area, not just
your own.
