Award-winning firm donates to animal charity

ProtectaPet, internationally acclaimed designers of pet containment systems, has sponsored custom-made fencing in the cat section for Wood Green, The Animals Charity Godmanchester Centre in Cambridgeshire.

Wood Green Cat Garden

Worth a significant £2,500, the donated fencing was kindly installed free of charge by ProtectaPet. The new fencing puts the finishing touch to a new summerhouse, allowing cats who need solitude or a safe space to relax and play to have an enclosed garden.

Monika Maintz, cat section manager at Wood Green, The Animals Charity explains: “The summer house and garden are extremely beneficial for cats in our care that do not like other cats and need to be away from them. Cats are not usually sociable animals and dislike being in a cattery environment, especially breeds such as Bengals. By housing them in the summer house for their stay at Wood Green we improve their welfare by making it less stressful. She continued: “The first resident to the house was Charlotte, an 11 year-old cat who was at the charity for 328 days. Charlotte was found in a vacant property after her owners had passed away and this left her understandably traumatised. The fencing allowed her to have access to the private garden and she was able to go outside for the first time in her 11 years and feel the grass on her paws.”

Simon Davies, founder of ProtectaPet, adds, “All cats have different needs, they have unique personalities, we’re delighted to be able to support Wood Green and provide a safe territory for those cats that need some extra space, making their stay as stress free as possible.”
