Announcing the Winners of ProtectaPet's £10k Giveaway

International cat fencing specialist, ProtectaPet, have donated cat enclosures, which would normally start at around £2500 to four ‘Superfosterer’ winners across England. The following four cat fosterers chosen were:

  • Claire Jones of Iris’s Cats in Need, Staffordshire
  • Emma Bartlett of Hector’s House Cat Rescue, Devon
  • Kim Bailey of Little Paws Cat Haven, Wolverhampton
  • Lorna Irish of Cat Watch Wiltshire
The cat enclosures, which were professionally installed by ProtectaPet-trained Installation Engineers, cat proofs the perimeter of each winners’ garden meaning multiple cats and kittens can now explore the outdoors in safety while they are temporarily cared for, awaiting placement in their ‘furever’ home.

Emma has a range of responsibilities at Hector’s House Cat Rescue, from hand-rearing kittens through to caring for poorly cats who might not otherwise be able to lead enriched lives. She said, ‘I currently have two foster boys who are desperate to go out and explore but my garden is not secure enough. With the cost of living crisis, it is taking much longer to find the right homes for cats so a secure outside space would be a godsend. In addition, I have two long term stays who were abused as kittens. At the moment their mobility is good but as they age they may need further surgery and a restricted outside area.’

ProtectaPet launched the £10k value cat fencing as a pot of resources for ‘Superfosterers’ to apply to, with the chance to become one of four winners. There were just shy of 60 worthy applicants who merited support and recognition for their invaluable care of unowned cats. Feline welfare charity, International Cat Care, undertook the difficult task of shortlisting the applicants throughout December. The judges focused on the value of the proposed project, the quality of care and the impact that the cat fencing installation would have on the cats’ and Superfosters’ lives.

Eve Davies, Communications Director at ProtectaPet said 'We are delighted to have assisted these cat rescue charities in their commendable work saving the lives of cats in need. Improving cat welfare and quality of life are at the core of what we aim for at ProtectaPet. It is a pleasure to support those who offer their time, often unpaid, to caring for and rehabilitating cats.'
