DIY Project: How to Install ProtectaPet on a Sloped Garden

DIY Guide for Sloping and Tiered Garden

Are you thinking about cat-proofing your sloped garden with ProtectaPet Cat Fence Barriers? Great choice! With a little planning, installing these barriers as a DIY project can be straightforward, even on uneven terrain. Here's a simple guide to help you get started.

Step 1: Measure the Slope

First things first—grab a measuring tape! Determining the slope of your garden is essential for ordering the correct parts. Here’s what to keep in mind:

  • Consistent, gradual slope: If your garden slopes at a gentle, consistent angle, you’ll likely only need one type of bracket. Decide between Standard Brackets or Extra Long Brackets depending on the steepness of the slope.
  • Staggered levels: If your garden has distinct levels or terracing, you may need a combination of Extra Long Cat Fence Barriers or Cat Fence Extension Barriers.

Pro Tip: Use a string line along the top of the fence line to determine exactly where you’ll need different brackets for the best fit.

Proper measurements help ensure you order the right products the first time, saving time and effort.

Step 2: Consider “Jump Points”

Preventing jump points is crucial in keeping your cat safely within your garden. For this, remember these two tips:

  • Aim for a 2-metre gap between the top of the Cat Fence Barrier hangover and the ground.
  • If you have any nearby garden furniture or other objects that your cat could use as a launch point, make sure the fence barriers are tall enough or positioned at a sufficient distance.

This step may mean selecting Extra Long or Extension Cat Fence Barriers to maintain a safe clearance height.

Step 3: Choose the Right Mesh

For gardens with an inconsistent slope, a 2-metre mesh roll is a handy option. Measure the distance between the fence points to see if the 2-metre option provides the necessary coverage.

Taking the time to ensure there’s no chance of gaps can prevent your cat from finding ways out.

Pro Tip: Between installation sections, cut the mesh where needed to keep tension high and avoid weak points.
