Eve Davies and Simon Davies of ProtectaPet met up with Richard Howard, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Cats Protection’s National Cat Centre to look at ways in which they can work together to promote feline welfare.
Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. Their vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. They never put a healthy cat to sleep and will ensure that every cat in their care is warm, fed and loved until they find them a loving new home.
Every year Cats Protection helps around 200,000 cats and kittens through a network of over 250 volunteer-run branches and 32 centres. At any one time, they have thousands of cats in their care and found new homes for 44,000 cats last year – that’s more than 120 a day!
As a business with a predominantly cat owning client base, ProtectaPet are looking to support the marketing and fundraising capabilities of Cats Protection.
Eve Davies, Communications Director at ProtectaPet, says ‘We would like to align ourselves with Cats Protection’s advice to support feline welfare. We have recently worked closely with Cats Protection to promote their National Black Cat Day, an innovative idea to raise awareness of the increased length of time taken for black and black-and-white cats to be adopted. Looking to the future, we face crises in the rise of FIV, busier roads and increasingly hazardous conditions for free-roaming cats. It is imperative that we work within networks of feline specialists so that we look for ways to maximise responsible ownership, pets’ safety and quality of life.’
