This month ProtectaPet have installed three steel framed cat runs in Brands Hatch Battersea in London. The sanctuary, which is surrounded by fields and woodland, provides nervous cats and dogs with respite from the city environment in a calm environment. Collectively across all three of their sites, Battersea cares for over 7,000 animals every year and so state of the art facilities are integral to keeping the dogs and cats in tip top health.
It is especially important for the cats’ welfare to have outdoor access so that they can exhibit the natural behaviours of hunting, stalking and sunbathing. The three garden cat runs, which are steel framed for longevity and disease prevention (timber can harbour ring worm) were custom designed around outdoor space and features at Brands Hatch. The area around the enclosures also feature fencetop barriers as a second layer of protection. The garden runs will allow potential new families to see cats that are up for adoption, in a more natural garden environment and give some outdoor respite to any cats that may be feeling a little anxious in an indoor facility.
The three enclosures and stretch of cat fence barrier, which were professionally installed and retail at £8,000, will upgrade the cat facilities for future generations of cats living at Battersea Brands Hatch and leave a legacy to the supporters and volunteers who dedicate their lives to caring for the animals in need.
Simon Davies, Founder and Product Designer at ProtectaPet, says, “It is a great pleasure to have designed the pens at one of the most renowned re-homing centres in the world and to support the invaluable work that they do. I hope the new enclosure will enrich the lives of hundreds of cats in the years to come.”
If you live in the south east area and would like to take a look at the new facilities, Battersea Brands Hatch is open to the public every day except Thursdays.
All prices are in GBP.
